About Oliver Smith
I’m a UK-based freelance Game Sound Designer specialising in gameplay-driven audio and technical implementation for PC, Console, and VR games.
Over the past 7+ years, I’ve contributed to multiple shipped titles including Dungeons of Eternity (#1 Quest Store release), Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem (G.A.N.G. nominated), and award-nominated indie games. I’ve also been trusted by established game audio outsourcing partners including PitStop Productions and Tuninpop Sound, supporting professional development teams with high-quality audio design.
My focus has always been on creating sound that serves gameplay. I work across the full audio pipeline—from early concept and design through to in-engine implementation—building responsive systems that enhance player feedback, clarity, and immersion.
I’m typically brought into projects where reliability, collaboration, and both creative and technical audio ownership are required. I work closely with designers, engineers, and artists to ensure sound integrates seamlessly into the wider game.
Over the years, I’ve worked on combat-heavy gameplay, physics-driven VR interactions, and real-time feedback systems where audio plays a critical role in readability and feel. This has reinforced my approach of treating sound as a core part of game design, not just a finishing layer.
I collaborate remotely with teams worldwide and work with industry-standard tools including Wwise, Unreal Engine, and Unity to design and implement interactive audio.
Outside of work, I enjoy field recording, playing guitar, and spending time outdoors—continually finding new inspiration for the sounds I create.
